Interview with Tina Whitlock coach for the St. Louis Cardinals.
Tina Plew Whitlock is a former South Carolina Gamecock softball great. Her big bat helped her 1997 team win the SEC tournament that year and a trip to the college world series. That bat, and her rich experience teaching others to wield it, eventually made the Big Leagues come calling. In the spring of 2020, Whitlock landed a contract with Major League Baseball, as a coach on staff with the St. Louis Cardinals. She was at Spring Training when sports shut down for the Covid-19 virus. It wouldn’t be the first time Whitlock faced adversity. In fact, what makes Whitlock such a winner is what she can tell you about losing. From being the best on the ballfield, to burying her soulmate and birthing his namesake only days apart, Tina Plew Whitlock knows life is all about faith – and how you handle the curveballs.
